SEOUL, June 10 (AJU PRESS) - President Yoon Suk Yeol embarked on his weeklong trip to Central Asia on Monday.

He will begin his trip with a summit with Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow in the afternoon and attend a business forum the following day where Yoon will deliver a keynote speech. Then he will move to Kazakhstan, where he will meet ethic Koreans before having a summit with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Wednesday.

As the last leg of his itinerary, Yoon will visit Uzbekistan. During his three-day visit, he will hold a summit with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, followed by a business forum. He will then visit to the historic ancient town of Samarkand there before wrapping up his trip on Saturday.

Korea is seeking to build stronger partnerships with countries in Central Asia, a region growing in importance due to its location connecting Asia and Europe. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, Korea has fostered close ties with the five Central Asian countries.

Yoon's trip aims to launch a new initiative to further strengthen cooperation with these resource-rich countries that hold significant development potential. "This trip focuses on traveling to three key countries in this resource-abundant region with high economic potential," said presidential adviser Kim Tae-hyo.
