Hyundai Motor Group has validated the potential for using parking robots as part of everyday mobility services.

On October 29, the group held a demonstration of parking robots for residential areas, sharing the results of a pilot project led by a consortium of Hyundai Motor, Hyundai Wia, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction. The event aimed to showcase the progress of the pilot project, present operational scenarios for parking robots in real residential environments, and discuss future regulatory improvements.

This pilot is the first instance in South Korea of operating parking robots in a parking space with over 50 spots within a residential complex, confirming the feasibility of implementing mobility services in daily life through the validation of parking robot technology and services.

The demonstration reflected potential scenarios that could occur in actual residential parking environments, including cross-entry and exit, resolving double parking, and temporary exits. Hyundai Motor Group has developed an advanced smart parking management system capable of simultaneously controlling up to 200 parking robots.

Jung Ho-geun, Vice President of Hyundai Motor's Future Strategy Division, stated, "We will realize the potential for parking spaces to evolve into hubs connecting people, mobility, robots, and urban infrastructure in smart cities."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group is currently operating a parking robot service at the 'Factorial Seongsu' office building in Seoul.
