Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance is expanding its research support to assist early treatment for children with developmental disabilities and delays.
On November 4, the company announced the selection of eight teams that will advance to the final research phase (SPACE 2) of its early intervention solution project, 'Child Mind Exploration Team.'
The Child Mind Exploration Team is a social contribution project sponsored by Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance and co-organized by Severance Hospital, Save the Children Korea, and Impact Square. Over three years, the initiative will invest a total of 15 billion won to discover and validate solutions for the early detection and treatment of children with developmental disabilities and delays.
In January, 12 teams were selected for the first phase (SPACE 1) and conducted preliminary clinical research from February to August involving children. Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance evaluated the research results and future plans to select the final eight teams.
The selected teams include a consortium from Seoul National University Hospital and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, a consortium from Language Development Center, Jam Jam Therapeutics, and the Emotional and Behavioral Therapy Team from the Purme Foundation's Next Generation Children's Rehabilitation Hospital. They will conduct large-scale clinical research involving over 80 children per team over the next year.
Initially, Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance planned to select six teams, but due to the promising results from the preliminary research, the number was expanded to eight. Each selected team will receive a cash prize of 150 million won and additional clinical and research funding of up to 960 million won.
A representative from Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance stated, 'We will support scientifically validated solutions to be utilized in the daily lives of children with developmental disabilities and their families.'
