SEOUL -- The agency of Seolhyun, a popular member of South Korea's girl group AOA, warned of strong legal action Monday against cyber bullies who are suspected of having used artificial intelligence technology to spread edited nude images.
Files containing Seolhyun's explicit images with her face edited onto pornographic photos or a video showing her face applied to porn movies have been shared widely through online communities and social media. "We will track down people who have participated in the creation of malicious images and make them pay," FNC said in a statement.
Cyberbullying using the face of female celebrities to create explicit composite images or maliciously edited images have long been a problem in South Korea's entertainment scene. Three years ago, IU sued 82 people who were suspected of spreading edited images and rumors online.
