Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee again ranked the richest man in S. Korea. Lee’s ranking on the list dropped five notches to 105th, although his fortune grew by US$1.4 billion to $8.6 billion. He placed ahead of Steve Jobs, the CEO of Samsung’s rival Apple, who ranked 110th with $8.3 billion.

Hyundai Motor chairman Chung Mong-koo ranked the second richest person in S. Korea for a second straight year, but his worldwide standing jumped from 249th to 162nd as his wealth nearly doubled to $6 billion.

Former GNP leader Chung Mong-joon also doubled his fortune to $3.2 billion, pushing him up two notches from fifth to third among Koreans and whopping 300 notches on the global ranking to 347th.

Lee Jae-yong, president of Samsung Electronics, ranked among the top 500, placing 488th with $2.4 billion.

Kyobo Life Insurance chairman Shin Chang-jae and Hyundai Motor vice chairman Chung Eui-sun shared 564th place, each with a fortune of $2.1 billion.

Also included are, as usual, SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won, Lotte Group vice chairman Shin Dong-bin, Shinsegae Group chairwoman Lee Myung-hee, and LG Group chairman Koo Bon-moo. Two self-made gaming industry tycoons -- Kim Jung-ju of Nexon and Kim Taek-jin of NCsoft -- also made it to the list.
