KT chosen as owner of South Korea's 10th baseball club

Telecom giant KT Corp. has been selected as the owner of the 10th club in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).

The decision was made in a general meeting of owners of the existing nine KBO clubs, which was held at the Lotte Hotel in central Seoul on Jan. 17.

The club owners unanimously approved the 10th club plan put together by KT, the country's largest fixed line operator and No. 2 mobile carrier, and Suwon, capital city of Gyeonggi Province.

In an evaluation process a week earlier, KT and Suwon received more favorable responses than Booyoung Group and its partner North Jeolla Province.
