S. Korea’s per-capita GDP ranks 33rd in 2013: IMF

South Korea’s nominal per-capita gross domestic product (GDP) moved up eight notches to 33rd place in 2013 from 2008, according to statistics compiled by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The country’s per-capita GDP reached US$24,329 last year, up 1,739 from $22,590 tallied in the previous year, said the statistics obtained by the finance ministry on Monday.

Saudi Arabia and Cyprus ranked 31st and 32nd with a per-capita GDP of $24,847 and $24,761, respectively.

Japan came in 24th with $38,491, while Taiwan placed 38th with $20,930.

Luxemburg topped the list with $110,424, followed by Norway ($100,318), Qatar (100,260), Switzerland ($81,324) and Australia ($64,863).
