Who is the most valuable footballer in the world?

A German-based website that has footballing information gave an answer on Tuesday (local time). 

Of 736 players going to participate in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Lionel Messi of Argentina is the most valuable one, according to www.transfermarkt.de.

Messi’s market value was estimated at 105.6 million pounds (approximately 181.2 billion won).

Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal came in second with a market value amounting to 88 million pounds, followed by Gareth Bale of Wales with 70.4 million pounds, who will miss the upcoming World Cup finals as his national team failed to win a ticket to Brazil.

The comparable figure stood at 52.8 million pounds for Neymar da Silva of Brazil and Edinson Cavani of Uruguay each; 48.4 million pounds for Mario Gotze of Germany and Andres Iniesta of Spain each; and 45.7 million pounds for Luis Suarez of Uruguay.

The 20th World Cup will take place from June 12 to July 13. Thirty-two countries will participate in the final tournament with a total of 64 matches to be played in 12 cities across the South American country.

The tournament's opening match between Brazil and Croatia will be held in Sao Paulo.

South Korea will play in Group H alongside Russia, Algeria and Belgium.
