Chinese maker Huawei's X3 smartphone to go on sale in South Korea Sept. 30

Chinese maker Huawei's X3 smartphone will go on sale in South Korea on Sept. 30, the Chinese company said Monday. 

Media Log (www.umobi.co.kr) will begin X3 sales, it said.

Huawei, based in Shenzhen, south China’s Guangdong Province, has recently gained ground in the global smartphone market. It placed third in the market in the second quarter of this year, with a share of 6.9 percent, up 2.6 percentage points from the same period last year, according to the global market researcher IDC. South Korea’s Samsung Electronics had a 25.2 percent share, down 7.1 percentage points from 32.3 percent a year earlier. No. 2 vendor Apple Inc. also saw its share decrease from 13 percent to 11.9 percent.
