It placed third in the market in the second quarter of this year, with a share of 6.9 percent, up 2.6 percentage points from the same period last year, according to the global market researcher IDC. South Korea’s Samsung Electronics had a 25.2 percent share, down 7.1 percentage points from 32.3 percent a year earlier. No. 2 vendor Apple Inc. also saw its share decrease from 13 percent to 11.9 percent.
