SEOUL, September 15 (AJP) - South Korean semiconductor parts maker Dongwon Parts said Tuesday it has received preliminary approval from the Korea Exchange (KRX) for a KOSDAQ listing, clearing a key regulatory step in its initial public offering (IPO).

The approval came after its revenue jumped 55 percent last year to 92.3 billion won ($67.9 million). Operating profit rose more than sevenfold to 7.8 billion won ($5.7 million). Samsung Securities is the lead underwriter.

Founded in 1997, Dongwon Parts manufactures parts used in semiconductor equipment for etching, deposition and cleaning — processes used to shape, build and clean the thin layers that make up semiconductor chips.

Its main products include showerheads and chamber parts, which are consumable components used inside chipmaking equipment. Showerheads distribute gases evenly across semiconductor wafers, while chamber parts form part of the enclosed area where the manufacturing process takes place.

The company uses precision micro-hole drilling technology to produce components with tiny, closely controlled openings, allowing it to develop prototypes and move them into mass production.

Dongwon Parts is also a registered supplier to major U.S. semiconductor equipment makers Lam Research and Applied Materials. Direct exports and sales to global equipment companies account for 51 percent of its revenue.

The company expects continued investment in semiconductor production equipment as demand grows for artificial intelligence chips and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), a type of advanced memory widely used in AI computing.

Unlike technology companies that list through a special track with relaxed financial requirements, Dongwon Parts is pursuing a standard KOSDAQ listing based on its earnings record.
