A South Korean medic treats a South Sudanese child in a village, Jonglei State, South Sudan, Monday (local time). The medic is a member of the South Korean contingent Hanbit Unit stationed in Bor, about 170 kilometers north of the South Sudanese capital of Juba, on a United Nations peace-keeping mission. The 290-member contingent, mostly engineers and medics. carry out work to construct infrastructure and provide humanitarian aid in the African nation which won its independence from its Arab-dominated northern neighbor Sudan in 2011 after decades of civil war.
