South Korea's LG Electronics said Friday that its second-quarter operating profit would probably hit a two-year high thanks to brisk performances in home appliance and television set businesses.
LG estimated its second-quarter operating profit would reach 584.6 billion won (503 million US dollars), up 139 percent from the 244 billion won recorded a year earlier.
This would be the company's highest quarterly profit since it posted a profit of 610 billion won in the second quarter of 2014.
Second-quarter sales were estimated at 14 trillion won, up 0.5 percent from 13.92 trillion won a year ago, the company said in a regulatory filing.
LG's home appliance division has seen good sales with premium products, but market watchers say sales of its G5 smartphones have been sluggish.
The company did not provide a net profit estimate, saying its official corporate earnings would be released later this month.
