SEOUL, June 18 (AJU PRESS) - Samsung Electronics will provide the Galaxy S24 Ultra to deliver an immersive viewing experience for the opening ceremony and sailing events of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the company said Tuesday.
In collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), over 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra devices will be utilized for live broadcasting the July 26 opening ceremony parade along the River Seine and sailing competitions starting July 28.
The opening ceremony's highlight - the Parade of Nations - will unfurl on the Seine River running through central Paris instead of the main stadium. Over 10,000 athletes on 85 boats will pass by iconic landmarks in a 6 km parade. The Galaxy S24 Ultra mounted on each nation's vessel will capture the athletes' footage, transmitted live worldwide via OBS.
During the sailing events, the Galaxy S24 Ultra on competing yachts will relay footage through dedicated 5G base stations set up by local partner Orange, allowing viewers to feel the adrenaline as if on board.
Samsung optimized software for stable high-resolution video streaming amid strong winds, waves and high temperatures expected on the river and sea.
"Samsung has connected the Olympic Games and the world through mobile innovations for nearly 40 years as an official partner," said Choi Seung-eun, Samsung's MX business marketing vice president. "We'll provide technology for fans globally to experience the Olympics more closely through Galaxy devices."
"With Samsung's cutting-edge mobile innovations, audiences worldwide can feel the Olympic spirit in real-time and inspire the athletes," added OBS CEO Yiannis Exarchos.
