SEOUL, January 27 (AJP) - Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo, 69, has been nominated Monday to serve a second term as the head of South Korea's major financial group.
The company’s board held a Chairman Nomination Committee meeting on Monday and announced Ham as the sole candidate for the position. Ham has served as chairman since March 2022, completing a three-year term marked by his cautious approach to mergers and acquisitions and a focus on stability in the financial sector.
The renomination signals the board’s confidence in Ham’s leadership, particularly his emphasis on sustainable growth. During his New Year’s address, Ham highlighted the importance of ensuring that mergers and acquisitions are built on “a self-sustaining foundation,” echoing his philosophy of strategic decision-making.
Ham’s reappointment is expected to be finalized following approval at the board meeting and the general shareholders’ meeting scheduled for March. If confirmed, Ham will lead the group for another term, navigating challenges in the domestic financial market while continuing to uphold Hana Financial’s vision for steady, long-term growth.
