
The former leader of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) made it onto the list along with Rosé, a member of K-pop girl band BLACKPINK, making them the two South Koreans on the list.
Lee was named along with other leaders like U.S. President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The magazine praised his leadership during disgraced former President Yoon Suk Yeol's botch martial law debacle late last year. "Lee led the charge for Yoon's impeachment following [Yoon's] declaration of martial law in December," it said, describing him as the "clear favorite to win the coming election," scheduled to be held here on June 3.
Rosé also earned a spot on the list, with her recent collaboration with American pop star Bruno Mars likely boosting her global recognition, as her hit song "APT." has gone viral worldwide since its release in October last year.
"She's able to captivate arenas full of people as both a member of the biggest girl group in the world and also as a solo artist," it said.
TIME has released its annual list of people including political figures, business leaders, entertainers, and athletes, who have made a significant impact around the world. This year's list includes figures from 32 countries, split into six categories: Artists, Icons, Leaders, Innovators, Pioneers, and Titans.
