Samsung Electronics announced on June 18 that it has partnered with modular housing specialist Space Production to launch the "Samsung AI Modular Home."
Space Production specializes in modular homes, where over 80% of the construction is prefabricated in a factory and then assembled on-site using an AI-based design and automated production system. This method is noted for its shorter construction times, consistent quality, and reduced construction waste.
The two companies opened a showroom for the Samsung AI Modular Home in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, this month. Customers can choose from various home sizes, including 33 square meters (approximately 9.9 pyeong), 99 square meters (approximately 29.9 pyeong), and 132 square meters (approximately 39.9 pyeong), based on their land size and lifestyle.
The Samsung AI Modular Home is delivered with Samsung's home appliances and SmartThings-based AI home solutions pre-installed and registered from the factory.
Customers can select from over 20 interconnected devices, including AI appliances such as air conditioners, heat pump boilers, refrigerators, and TVs, as well as smart lighting, home cameras, and door cameras. This allows for an immediate AI home experience without the need for additional appliance purchases or network registration, significantly saving time and costs.
Samsung plans to expand the AI Modular Home models beyond single-family homes to include mid-rise buildings with four or more floors in the future, offering optimized AI home solutions regardless of building type.
Last February, Samsung Electronics signed a memorandum of understanding with Yuchang E&C for the development of modular homes for multi-family housing. At IFA 2025, the company showcased a modular home solution aimed at business-to-business (B2B) markets in collaboration with Samsung C&T.
The domestic modular construction market is projected to grow to a maximum of 4.4 trillion won by 2030. As demand for modular homes, which offer cost efficiency and environmental sustainability, rises beyond the limitations of traditional construction methods, major construction firms and IT tech companies are actively entering the market to secure their positions.
Yang Hye-soon, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' DA Division, emphasized, "We will continue to propose differentiated lifestyles by combining the innovation of modular construction with Samsung's AI home solutions."
