Sampyo Group has unveiled special concrete technology designed to withstand extreme weather conditions such as heat waves and heavy rainfall.
On July 27, Sampyo Industries, a subsidiary of Sampyo Group, held a performance verification demonstration for its rain-casting concrete 'Bluecon Rain Okay' and high-temperature resistant concrete 'Bluecon Keep Slump' at the Sampyo Technology Research Institute in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The demonstration aimed to verify the ability of both products to maintain concrete quality under conditions that closely mimic the increasingly extreme weather often encountered in construction environments.
Sampyo Industries measured the performance of each product through comparative tests against standard concrete, focusing on whether the products could be cast on-site without quality degradation in extreme conditions such as heavy rain and high temperatures.
'Bluecon Keep Slump' is designed to maintain workability even when exposed to high temperatures for extended periods. Developed in collaboration with Hyundai Engineering & Construction, the company reported that the product maintains workability more than 2.5 times better than standard concrete in environments where the average temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius or where transportation times exceed four hours.
The demonstration of 'Bluecon Rain Okay' included freshwater tests that simulated actual rainfall conditions. Concrete was cast on a mock structure measuring 0.5 meters by 0.5 meters while replicating rainfall of over 5 mm per hour to check for material separation and strength reduction.
Sampyo Industries plans to use this special concrete technology to reduce the causes of poor construction, such as strength reduction and quality defects, thereby enhancing the safety of structures.
A representative from Sampyo Industries stated, "As uncertainties in construction sites have increased due to climate change, we have been dedicated to developing technology that can maintain perfect quality even in extreme environments like heat waves and heavy rain."
Meanwhile, Sampyo Group's listed subsidiary, Sampyo Cement, reported a consolidated revenue of 166.7 billion won and an operating profit of 10 billion won in the first quarter of this year, continuing its trend of improved performance. Revenue increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, while operating profit surged by 375.5%, and net profit turned positive.
