Kolon Group announced on July 29 that it is conducting a summer blood donation campaign titled 'Donate Blood and Enjoy Your Vacation' to address the seasonal blood supply shortage.
The summer season typically sees a significant drop in blood donations due to vacations and school breaks, making it a critical time for blood supply. Blood cannot be stored for long periods, so maintaining an adequate supply through continuous donations is essential. Since 2013, Kolon has been actively participating in blood donation campaigns every summer to contribute to this cause.
This year, the campaign has expanded its reach to the local community. It has transitioned from being primarily focused on employees to include participation from citizens of Gwacheon. Additionally, Kolon has increased collaboration with its resorts and hotels to provide breakfast vouchers and hotel merchandise to blood donors until August 31, coinciding with the peak vacation season.
The campaign began on July 22 at the Gwacheon Kolon Tower and will be held sequentially at eight locations nationwide, including Magok Kolon One&Only Tower, Gumi, Gimcheon, Daejeon, Gyeongsan, and Daesan. It will continue until July 31, with voluntary participation from employees and local residents.
Blood donation certificates collected during the campaign will be donated to the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation to support the treatment and recovery of pediatric cancer patients. Since 2013, Kolon has donated over 6,800 blood donation certificates as part of its ongoing charitable efforts.
Shin Eun-joo, Executive Director of Kolon’s Social Contribution Office, stated, 'Blood donation is an activity through which anyone can practice meaningful sharing.' She added, 'We will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibility and promote a culture of warm sharing through various community engagement activities.'
In May, Kolon also implemented 'Dream Partners Week,' a week of volunteer activities where employees reached out to underserved neighbors living near their business locations.
