LG is shifting the focus of its largest technology event, 'LG SPARK,' from showcasing research and development (R&D) achievements to promoting the spread of AI transformation (AX). The company will present core technologies such as Physical AI, AI Data Centers (AIDC), and automotive solutions, sharing real-world applications of AI across various business functions from development to marketing, production, and planning. This initiative aims to extend AI integration beyond individual subsidiaries to the entire group.

On September 4, LG announced that 'LG SPARK 2026' will take place from September 7 to 17 at the LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul. The event will feature five programs: the LG Tech Fair, AX Fair, AI Talk Concert, AI DevCon, and Culture Week. Last year, approximately 60,000 people attended.

This year, a significant change is the emphasis on AX case studies. During the Tech Fair, held from September 7 to 8, 41 innovative technologies will be unveiled, including 13 related to the three pillars of 'One LG': Physical AI, AIDC, and automotive technologies. Among the highlights are technologies that connect the home robot 'Cloyde' with AI home appliances, hybrid bonding equipment for AI semiconductors, high-thermal conductivity materials, and components for future vehicles.

Additionally, 28 future business technologies in AI, bio, and clean tech will be showcased. In the AI sector, technologies for targeted advertising using a 'Behavior Foundation Model' that predicts household actions will be displayed. This strategy aims to secure common technologies applicable across multiple businesses rather than developing them separately within subsidiaries.

During the AX Fair on September 10 and 11, 68 real-world application cases will be shared. Notable examples include LG Electronics' AI for marketing content compliance verification, LG Innotek's vision AI for safety and environmental risk detection, LG Chem's R&D project planning and verification AI agent, and LG Uplus's AI model token cost optimization technology. This demonstrates the expansion of generative AI usage beyond development into sales, marketing, production, quality, strategy, and planning.

The industrial application of LG's proprietary AI model, EXAONE, will also be broadened. The LG AI Research Institute will present industry-specific cases and future development plans for EXAONE during the Talk Concert on September 14 and 15. Following that, the AI DevCon will feature participation from NVIDIA, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, who will share the latest AI technologies with LG developers. The 'Frompton' initiative will also be conducted to develop services for practical use utilizing EXAONE.

LG's shift in focus to AX expansion reflects the transition in AI competition from model performance to generating actual business results. Jeong Su-hun, head of LG Science Park, stated, 'Through Winning Tech and One LG, we are creating a space for LG's future innovation. We will strive to foster the birth of innovative products and services through the integration of AI technology and culture at LG SPARK.'
