Rebellion's neural processing unit (NPU) has been expanded to four major commercial artificial intelligence (AI) services of SK Telecom (SKT).
According to Rebellion on September 21, its AI semiconductor infrastructure, based on 'AtomMax', has been sequentially implemented in SKT's four core functions: A.Dot call summary (one-line summary feature), A.Dot text-to-speech (streaming TTS), AI customer center (AICC post-processing and search), and Scam Vanguard (phishing message detection).
This achievement comes about six months after the domestic NPU was first commercialized in December last year for the A.Dot call summary (relationship estimation feature). Currently, the real-time AI traffic processed by Rebellion's infrastructure in these services amounts to approximately 14 million cases daily, exceeding 4 billion tokens.
SKT has enhanced the stability of its high-difficulty real-time services while improving the efficiency of its computing resources through the reallocation of graphics processing units (GPUs) and NPUs tailored to the characteristics of AI models. Notably, it has maximized operational efficiency by forming an 'NPU farm' that combines dozens of NPUs, allowing multiple in-house services to share resources.
Rebellion plans to leverage this large-scale commercial operation success as a stepping stone to expand its NPU infrastructure supply across various industries, including finance, telecommunications, and public sectors.
Park Seong-hyun, CEO of Rebellion, stated, "By proving stable operation in four services that the public uses daily, domestic NPU has established itself as a 'verified infrastructure.'"
