Duzon Bizon announced on October 13 that it held a 'Duzon Bizon × NIA × Replit Makerthon' for public officials across the country.

The event took place on October 12 at the Duzon Eulji Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul. It was organized as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's AI Champion Training Program, operated by NIA. Over 30 public officials gathered from various regions to compete individually on the theme of 'developing platforms using public data application programming interfaces (APIs).'

This Makerthon is characterized by public officials, who best understand the challenges in administrative settings, directly designing and implementing solutions. Previously, ideas from the field had to go through multiple stages, including planning, ordering, and development, before becoming actual services. However, participants utilized a conversational coding environment to turn their ideas into functioning services without prior development experience.

A Duzon Bizon representative stated, "Duzon Bizon and NIA prepared a guide for utilizing the public data portal and a sample API list in advance to support field officials in directly connecting government-opened public data to services."

Participants learned the entire process from calling public data APIs to screen composition and service deployment, followed by three hours of focused development. After the development phase, Lee Sung-jae, a senior consultant at Duzon Bizon's AX Support Headquarters, delivered a special lecture on 'AI Utilization in Enterprises,' showcasing examples of AI adoption and business innovation in the corporate sector, and sharing insights on how these cases can inform public administration.

Judging was conducted in two stages based on creativity, functionality, technicality, and public applicability. The award-winning projects focused on solving various administrative issues using public data and digital services, ranging from tax services to disaster and safety management. The grand prize-winning project, 'Tax Wizard,' proposed convenience in local tax information provision, while the best project, 'Gimhae Rainwater Guardian,' suggested sharing flood risk information through citizen participation for disaster prevention.

Duzon Bizon is expanding its AX support in the public sector by integrating its own AI technology, leveraging its experience in building enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and integrated work platforms for public institutions. This Makerthon was also organized as part of efforts to enhance the practical application of AI in public settings.

Ji Yong-gu, co-CEO of Duzon Bizon, remarked, "Public AX gains momentum when public officials, who best understand field issues, create solutions themselves." He added, "Seeing participants implement public data into functioning services in a short time confirmed the potential for public innovation. Duzon Bizon will continue to share technology and experience to help the public sector seamlessly integrate AI into their workflows."

Kim Hyung-cheol, head of NIA, stated, "The AI Champion Training program is a field-centered initiative that allows public officials to experiment with ideas for administrative innovation by directly handling AI." He further noted, "This Makerthon demonstrated that when public data meets AI tools, field officials can create citizen-centric services in a short time. We will continue to collaborate with the private sector to enhance public officials' AI utilization capabilities and promote AI-based administrative innovation."
