Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won emphasized on October 24 that he aims to create tangible changes that reflect the voices of citizens.

During the 7th Empathy Concert, Mayor Park met with over 300 citizens to discuss Gwangmyeong's future vision and key policy directions, sharing current municipal issues and expressing his commitment to implementing policies that citizens can feel.

This event was organized based on citizen surveys to share major issues such as achieving a basic society, developing a future city, and addressing transportation, culture, and welfare, while incorporating citizen feedback into governance.

Mayor Park introduced initiatives under the basic social policy, including the Gwangmyeong Love Currency, lifelong learning support funds for citizens, and a 10% cashback on book purchases, stating his intention to reduce the economic burden on citizens and create an environment where everyone can enjoy a basic quality of life.

Next year, the city plans to launch a health support fund program for citizens aged 60 to 64.

To create a pleasant living environment, the city will also promote the expansion of garden cities and community parks.

Plans include the development of the Anyangcheon Local Garden and preparations for national garden designation, as well as the establishment of Gahaksan Arboretum, Yeonghwiwon Waterside Park, Sohadong Cultural Park, and community gardens to increase green spaces accessible to citizens.

Additionally, the city will push for the expansion of rail networks, including the Shin Ansan Line, Wolgok-Pangyo Line, and GTX, while actively requesting the government to ensure transportation measures are in place before the Gwangmyeong-Siheung third new town opens.

Mayor Park also proposed the establishment of a cultural city featuring a 50,000-seat dome stadium, incorporating sports, shopping, lodging, and convention facilities.

He emphasized the need to expand spatial welfare to enhance citizen convenience and community vitality.

Following the Gwangmyeong 3-dong complex facility and the Haandong Social Economy Center, plans include the construction of a library and cultural arts center in Iljik-dong, as well as a citizen health and sports center, to increase public facilities accessible to citizens.

During the event, the status of 5,920 citizen complaints received over the past year was shared, along with examples of resolved issues and policy reflections in the areas of transportation, housing, welfare, and living environment.

Mayor Park stated, “The future of Gwangmyeong is not determined unilaterally by administration, but is created when the changes desired by citizens align with the city’s efforts. I will ensure that the voices of each citizen are reflected in policies, leading to changes that can be felt in daily life.”
