Seegene has unveiled next-generation molecular diagnostic technology capable of detecting multiple respiratory viruses and bacteria simultaneously, accelerating its expansion into the infectious disease testing market.

From October 21 to 23, Seegene participated in the International Conference and Exhibition of the Korean Society of Clinical Microbiology (LMCE 2026) held at the Grand Walkerhill in Seoul, where it introduced its syndromic PCR testing strategy and clinical applications of respiratory panels, the company announced on October 26.

Comprehensive testing examines multiple pathogens that cause similar symptoms, such as colds and pneumonia, to identify the infection source and the possibility of co-infections. Seegene plans to support healthcare professionals' diagnostic and treatment decisions with its multiplex technology, which allows for the simultaneous detection of various pathogens through syndromic PCR testing.

At the conference, Seegene showcased its products and automation systems for infectious diseases under the theme 'More Target, More Insight.' On October 22, a symposium titled 'From the Laboratory to the Clinical Field: Introducing Respiratory Panel Testing in Communities and Hospitals' was held.

The symposium was chaired by Professor Yoo Su-jin from Eulji University School of Medicine, with Associate Professor Ninad Meta from the University of Saskatchewan's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine presenting clinical evaluation results of the next-generation respiratory panel. Professor Meta explained that the initial evaluation of Seegene's next-generation respiratory virus panel identified co-infection cases not detected by existing tests. Initial evaluation results of the respiratory bacterial panel and laboratory operational experiences were also shared.

The exhibition featured a live demonstration of Seegene's molecular diagnostic automation system, the Seegene STARlet-AIOS. In addition to respiratory infections, Seegene presented its testing products for various infectious diseases, including human papillomavirus (HPV), reproductive and gastrointestinal infections, meningitis, and mpox.

Seegene emphasized its respiratory diagnostic portfolio by showcasing three upcoming Allplex respiratory virus testing products, respiratory bacterial testing products, and research-use Novaplex tests for avian influenza H5N1, H7, and H9.

Shin Dae-ho, Seegene's Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing, stated, "Respiratory infections are difficult to differentiate based solely on symptoms, and the possibility of co-infections makes comprehensive testing essential. We will support clinical applications with multiplex-based syndromic PCR testing and automation systems."
