Hanwha Ocean and its labor union reached a tentative wage and collective bargaining agreement on October 29, which includes a basic salary increase of 140,000 won and a one-time payment of 8.5 million won.

The Hanwha Ocean branch of the National Metal Workers' Union held a general meeting to conduct a vote among its 4,707 members regarding the tentative agreement.

Of the 4,422 participating members (a turnout of 93.95%), 2,212 members (50.02%) voted in favor, thus approving the agreement.

According to the agreement, the basic salary will increase by a fixed amount of 140,000 won, which includes a promotion and advancement increase of 23,689 won. This increase will be retroactively applied from March 1 of this year, with the payment date set for December 7, coinciding with the November payroll.

The one-time payment will consist of 4.5 million won as a settlement bonus, 1 million won as a mutual encouragement bonus, and 3 million won as an AX innovation incentive, totaling 8.5 million won.

The agreement also includes expanded welfare support, providing annual welfare points of 1 million won and increasing the monthly support for children before school from 100,000 won to 300,000 won.

Regarding reemployment after retirement, contracts for production-related positions will be established for those born in 1966 for one year after retirement. The reemployment period for those born in 1965 will also be set for one year, with the number of eligible individuals to be determined based on review criteria.

Following the agreement, the parties plan to establish a task force to improve the performance bonus system, which will operate until the end of the year. This task force will develop criteria for financial and strategic performance bonuses based on operating profit, sales, operating profit margin, and safety indicators.

As a result of the approval of the tentative agreement, a special day off will be granted on October 30. The parties are currently coordinating the schedule for the signing ceremony. Earlier, Kim Yoo-cheol, the union leader who had been protesting from a crane for 21 days, is expected to come down following this outcome.
