The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will hold the '2026 K-Geo Festa,' the largest spatial information technology exchange fair in South Korea, from November 4 to 6 at Hall 10 of KINTEX in Goyang City.
Now in its 18th year, this event will showcase the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and spatial information under the theme 'GeoAI that Opens Change, A World Awakening.'
A total of 117 companies and organizations from both domestic and international sectors will participate. The exhibition will feature seven themed pavilions, including a history of spatial information, public information, lifestyle services, and solutions & platforms, highlighting technologies and services related to spatial data collection and analysis.
During the event, 30 conferences will be held to discuss the direction of spatial information technology and industry development. On the opening day, Professor Jeong Jae-seung from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) will deliver a keynote speech on 'The Future of Korea Unlocked by Spatial Information in the AI Era.' Seminars will also cover topics such as autonomous cooperative driving map technology, underground information, and the construction of high-precision electronic maps.
Programs to support domestic companies in commercialization and overseas expansion will also be available. Investment competitions and business matching will be conducted for domestic and international investors and buyers, alongside an open innovation program featuring participation from Naver Cloud and Mercedes-Benz Korea.
Notably, 49 overseas guests from 14 countries, including Qatar and Mongolia, have been invited to share insights on domestic spatial information technology and policies. The World Bank, KOTRA, KOICA, and the Korea Export-Import Bank will also participate, with plans to sign memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for cooperation in spatial information with Indonesia and Azerbaijan.
Jeong Ui-gyeong, the Second Vice Minister of Land, stated, "In the AI era, the importance of spatial information, which allows for accurate understanding and analysis of the real world, including land, cities, transportation, and logistics, is growing. We will strive to make this event a platform that promotes cooperation, investment, and overseas expansion among companies."
