Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae earns 4 titles at World Cup

South Korean rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae grabbed four titles at the FIG World Cup in Lisbon, Portugal, over the weekend.

On Sunday (local time), Son won three gold medals at the 2014 Lisbon World Cup. She finished first in the ball, club and ribbon competitions, and placed third in the hoop contest.

The 20-year-old scored 17.500 points in ball to beat Melitina Staniouta of Belarus with 17.400; 17.450 points in club ahead of World Cup debutante Dina Averina of Russia with 17.250; and 17.150 points in ribbon to defeat Arina Charopa of Belarus with 17.050.

A day earlier, she nabbed her first gold medal in the World Cup at the FIG World Cup, becoming the first South Korean to win an individual all-around gold at a senior international event. Staniouta and Averina captured the silver and bronze medal, respectively.

Son finished fifth in individual all-around at the 2012 London Olympics.
