Son Yeon-jae places 4th in individual all-around at 2014 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships

Son Yeon-jae returned home on Sunday, after finishing fourth in the individual all-around at the 2014 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Izmir, Turkey. Son earned a combined 70.933 points in hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon, while Deng Senyue of China placed fifth with 69.766 points, 1.167 points behind Son.

Son and Deng, who came on top among the Asian players at the world championships, will compete again at the ongoing Asian Games in South Korea, Son's home turf. The Asian Games rhythmic gymnastics events will start on Wednesday.

In Turkey, Russia's Yana Kudryavtseva defended her title with 75.266 points. The silver and bronze medals went to Margarita Mamun (74.149), also of Russia, and Ganna Rizatdinova (72.449) of Ukraine, respectively.
