Doosan Enerbility announced on June 15 that it has secured a construction contract for the Duqm gas combined cycle power plant in Oman with the Korea Western Power consortium.

The project, valued at approximately 530 billion won (about $530 million), involves a consortium with SEPCO-3, a specialized power plant construction company, to carry out engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. Doosan Enerbility will manufacture and supply key equipment, including steam turbines and generators, with the aim of completing the project by 2029.

The power plant will be located in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, approximately 550 kilometers south of Muscat, the capital of Oman, with a generation capacity of 870 megawatts.

The consortium includes Korea Western Power, Qatar's Nebras Power, the UAE's EUDC, and Oman’s Bahwan Infrastructure Services (BIS). Doosan Enerbility plans to leverage its EPC capabilities and experience in power equipment supply to advance the project.

Lee Hyun-ho, head of Plant EPC BG at Doosan Enerbility, stated, "We secured this project based on our accumulated project execution experience and EPC capabilities in the Middle East. We anticipate continued demand for power plant construction to ensure stable electricity supply in Oman and the broader Middle East, and we aim to expand our business opportunities through successful project execution."

In addition, Doosan Enerbility recently signed a contract worth approximately 840 billion won for the second phase of the Jafurah Combined Heat and Power Plant with a consortium including Korea Electric Power Corporation and Saudi Aramco. With the addition of the Duqm gas combined cycle power plant contract, the company is further solidifying its presence in the Middle East power plant market.
