The Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups and the Korea Small Business Agency (KOSME) announced that they held the "Regulatory Innovation KOSME-IR Mart" on June 19 at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, aimed at attracting private investment for businesses in regulatory free zones and global innovation zones.

Regulatory free zones are areas where regulations are relaxed to allow for the testing of innovative technologies and services, located outside the capital region. KOSME has been conducting investment attraction briefings (IR) for companies in these zones since 2022.

The event featured companies from the artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology sectors, including Record, Markelz, Cellapy Bio, MCI, Youth Bio Global, and Thyssen Biopharm, who participated in the IR. They engaged in one-on-one discussions with venture capital (VC) and accelerator (AC) representatives to explore investment opportunities.

Moon Sin-ja, CEO of Cellapy Bio, part of the Daejeon Bio-Manufacturing Global Innovation Zone, expressed her thoughts on the event, stating, "I felt this was an opportunity not just to assess investment potential but to seek practical advice from investment institutions."

Ban Jeong-sik, Director of Regional Innovation at KOSME, remarked, "Supporting the commercialization of demonstration technologies is like a catalyst for the growth of companies participating in regulatory free zones. KOSME, in collaboration with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, will actively support the growth of these companies through various commercialization support programs, including investment attraction and policy linkage."
