Tak Hyun-min, a special professor at Mokpo National University and former chief of protocol under President Moon Jae-in, stated on June 19 that the airport protocols mentioned by President Lee Jae-myung were not in place during the Moon administration. "The reinstatement of these protocols was initiated by Yoon Suk-yeol," he said.
Tak made his comments via social media, noting that President Lee expressed discomfort with the airport protocols, stating, "Today, the President said he is not pleased with the airport protocol."
During a briefing on the outcomes of his recent trip to Europe and the G7 summit, President Lee responded to a question regarding the absence of Jeong Cheong-rae, the Democratic Party leader, at the departure event. He remarked, "In fact, it is not particularly pleasant to have many people lined up for departure or arrival events."
He added, "Overseas trips are part of routine duties, and I questioned whether it was necessary to have such events. I had some thoughts about whether it was essential to do this, and it seems that some people were unable to attend or chose not to participate."
Tak further explained, "During the Moon administration, we did not have people lined up for send-offs or welcomes. The reinstatement of this practice was a decision made by Yoon Suk-yeol. In fact, towards the end of the Moon administration, we even eliminated send-offs and welcomes altogether. This is not difficult, and there are precedents for it."
