KT has launched an integrated mobile plan that combines its 5G and Long-Term Evolution (LTE) offerings.
On July 1, KT announced the consolidation of its previous 100-plus 5G and LTE plans into 18 integrated options. As part of this change, new subscriptions to existing 5G and LTE plans will be discontinued, although current subscribers can retain their existing plans.
The integrated plans are divided into two categories based on data usage patterns: the premium 'Choice' plan and the budget-friendly 'Basic' plan. The Choice plan offers unlimited data with expanded shared data options, as well as various benefits like over-the-top (OTT) services, device insurance, and discounts on devices. The Basic plan removes previous shared data limits on certain products and allows continued service through speed control (Quality of Service, QoS) even after data is exhausted.
All integrated plans will now include a basic data assurance option (QoS). This means that after subscribers use all their data, they can continue to access basic services like web browsing and messaging at speeds of up to 5 megabits per second (Mbps), 1 Mbps, or 400 kilobits per second (Kbps), depending on their plan.
KT has also enhanced benefits based on age. Automatically applied benefits include 'Y-Dum' for young customers, 'School-Dum' for children, and '65+-Dum' and '75+-Dum' for customers aged 65 and older. Young customers will receive double the basic data, while senior customers will receive additional data based on their age.
Benefits for military personnel have also been expanded. During their service, soldiers using plans of 45,000 won or more will receive an additional 2 gigabytes (GB) of data daily, along with continued service at 3 Mbps after data is exhausted. A 20% monthly discount is also available.
To celebrate the launch of the integrated plans, KT is hosting a quiz event where participants can win prizes such as Mega Coffee, Naver Pay points, and Shinsegae gift certificates.
Kim Young-gul, head of KT's Customer Business Division, stated, "The integrated plan is designed to simplify customer choices while enhancing the benefits they experience. We will continue to expand tailored benefits that align with customer usage patterns and life stages."
Meanwhile, LG Uplus introduced its integrated plans on June 1, and SK Telecom is set to launch its own on July 2.
