As the legal sector increasingly embraces artificial intelligence (AI) technology, an innovative legal tech company has partnered with a local bar association to enhance legal practice competitiveness and AI capabilities.
Law&Company, led by CEO Kim Bon-hwan, and the Chungbuk Bar Association, headed by President Lee Seong-gu, announced on July 3 that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on July 2 at the Chungbuk Bar Association building in Cheongju. The agreement focuses on the introduction and use of legal AI services.
This collaboration aims to maximize the efficiency of attorney members and establish a smarter work environment in line with the ongoing shift towards AI in the legal field.
Under the agreement, for the next year, the Chungbuk Bar Association members will have access to Law&Company's flagship services, including the country's first legal AI service, Super Lawyer, and the AI-based integrated legal information service, Big Case, at special subscription rates. Additionally, the two organizations plan to strengthen their partnership by jointly operating training programs to enhance technology utilization.
Since its launch in 2024, Super Lawyer has rapidly grown, attracting over 35,000 legal professionals in just two years. It recently achieved a remarkable 100% accuracy rate in the optional section of the bar exam, effectively managing the hallucination phenomenon often associated with generative AI. The service has also been recognized globally as an innovative example of legal AI by major tech companies like Anthropic and AWS.
Big Case, which is also available as a paid subscription service called Big Case Plus, assists attorneys in their work efficiency. Subscribers can access over 5.3 million case law records, as well as unlimited searches of leading legal publications and academic papers from Park Young Publishing, South Korea's top legal publisher. Notably, the service provides visualized statistical results for 644 applicable legal fields by analyzing over one million first-instance criminal judgment data, receiving positive feedback from practicing attorneys.
President Lee Seong-gu of the Chungbuk Bar Association stated, "This agreement will serve as an important opportunity to proactively respond to the rapidly changing legal service environment using AI technology. We will continue to develop practical support measures for our members while striving to enhance the public nature of legal services."
CEO Kim Bon-hwan of Law&Company expressed, "We are very pleased to establish a strong partnership with the Chungbuk Bar Association while expanding our collaboration with local bar associations nationwide. We will contribute to enhancing the professionalism of attorneys through more refined AI-based services and will spare no effort in providing support centered on mutual growth."
The Chungbuk Bar Association, which signed this MOU, is a mandatory legal organization for attorneys based in Chungcheongbuk-do. Established in 1957, it plays a vital role in providing legal assistance to local residents, advocating for human rights, and improving the quality and integrity of legal professionals.
