KB Financial Supports K-Robots with 2026 Humanoid Challenge Sponsorship

KB Financial Group is taking significant steps to nurture talent in the promising field of humanoid robots, which are increasingly recognized as a key component of future advanced industries.

On July 6, KB Financial announced that the inaugural '2026 Humanoid Challenge,' which it sponsored, successfully concluded on July 3.

The 2026 Humanoid Challenge is the first domestic competition aimed at verifying the commercialization level and industrial applicability of humanoid robot technology.

KB Financial sponsored a total prize of 30 million won for the event, which took place over two days, July 2 and 3, at the Songdo Convensia in Incheon. Twelve teams from major universities and research institutions across the country, each possessing a humanoid robot platform, showcased their technologies. The grand prize was awarded to the ROBI team from Seoul National University.

Humanoids are gaining attention as a crucial technology to enhance productivity in manufacturing and address labor shortages, especially with advancements in AI technology. Major countries and global companies are also expanding their efforts in testing and commercializing humanoid applications in manufacturing settings. Following this event, KB Financial plans to increase its support for nurturing domestic humanoid technology talent and revitalizing the related industrial ecosystem.
