The single, a ballad that Jaehyun helped write and compose around the idea that love can make an incomplete person feel whole, will also be released on major global music-streaming platforms at 6 p.m. here, with its music video available on YouTube.
The song opens with a restrained piano line before gradually building into a fuller instrumental arrangement. Near the end, the instrumentation pulls back, leaving Jaehyun's vocals at the center.
"99 Degrees," which is one degree below the boiling point, symbolizes an incomplete state. Rather than viewing that missing degree as a flaw, the lyrics use it as a metaphor for finding completeness through another person.
"I am happy to share '99 Degrees,' a song I worked on with a lot of care," Jaehyun said in a press release.
"I hope listeners can also feel the meaning of finding something complete within imperfection," he said. "I hope the song brings a small sense of comfort to Czennies (NCT's fans) and everyone who listens to it.
"99 Degrees" marks Jaehyun's first solo release since completing his mandatory military service in May this year. It follows his debut solo album "J" in 2024 which included tracks such as "Forever Only," "Horizon," and "Unconditional."
