The 131-minute thriller will be screened along with some 22 other films in the Gala Presentations of the annual festival, which runs from Sept. 10 to 20.
Hur, alongside cast members Lee Min-ho, Park Hae-il and Yoo Hae-jin, will take part in various events including a red-carpet event to meet audiences.
According to the TIFF, the film is a "large-canvas procedural about police and journalists determined to uncover a seemingly impenetrable conspiracy," based on the historical incident involving the attempted assassination of South Korean strongman Park Chung-hee's wife and first lady Yuk Young-soo, on Aug. 15, 1974.
After getting its world premiere at the festival, the film is scheduled to hit local theaters her just in time for Chuseok, one of the country's biggest holidays.
