Kim Min-seok Inspects Prices at Noryangjin Fish Market Ahead of Chuseok

Kim Min-seok, leader of the Democratic Party, visited the Noryangjin Fish Market in Seoul on September 8 to check prices and hear from market vendors ahead of Chuseok.

After touring the market in the Dongjak District, Kim held a meeting with the merchants.

Cha Deok-ho, president of the High-End Seafood Association, requested a relaxation of regulations on corporate card use for group meals. He stated, "It's quite difficult for individuals to purchase items like king crab. Before the Kim Young-ran Act, corporate cards were more effectively used for seafood consumption," and added, "While gifts may be challenging, we hope for some revisions regarding meals."

In response, Kim acknowledged, "The issues surrounding corporate cards and the Kim Young-ran Act were introduced for specific reasons, so a complete repeal is difficult. However, there is room to consider group meals rather than gifts."

Additionally, the merchants raised concerns about expanding airport and tour bus services for tourists, as well as the challenges of applying uniform electronic auctions.

Kim promised to explore allowing media facade advertising on the market building and to consider ways to utilize it as a cultural and tourist attraction. He also urged Ryu Sam-young, the Dongjak District mayor, to designate a department to address issues related to the Noryangjin Fish Market, assuring that he would work with the party's policy committee to review potential solutions.
