Under the contract, Parata Air will bring in an Airbus A320-200, which will go into service after it is delivered to South Korea and undergoes cabin modifications, maintenance and required regulatory procedures with relevant authorities.
With the latest addition, Parata Air's fleet will be increased to six aircraft, comprising three A320-200s and three A330-200s. The airline plans to deploy the A320-200s mainly on domestic flights and short- to medium-haul international routes including those to China and Japan.
Since beginning commercial operations in September last year, Parata Air has gradually expanded its international network focusing mainly on Japan and Viet Nam, and now aims to launch routes to China in the second half of this year as it seeks to broaden its regional presence.
The airline plans to launch four weekly flights between Incheon and Shenzhen early next month, its first service to China. This will be followed by the launch of a route connecting Yangyang, Gangwon Province, with Shanghai in December, while flights between Incheon and Los Angeles are also planned for the first half of next year.
"With the addition of our sixth aircraft, we have further strengthened our capacity to operate domestic and international routes more reliably," a Parata Air spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Parata Air has hired Brian Kim, who previously worked at Air Premia and has more than 20 years of experience in the aviation industry, as its first Los Angeles branch manager, while stepping up preparations to enter the U.S. market.
