Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has launched the new D9 and Z9GT models equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery in Indonesia. Alongside the vehicle releases, the company is establishing an ultra-fast charging network to gain a foothold in the market.

On October 14, BYD officially announced its plans to build a flash charging network in Indonesia. The flash chargers are ultra-fast charging facilities equipped with energy storage systems (ESS).

Initially, BYD plans to install flash chargers at 10 Denza showrooms in Indonesia, with plans to gradually expand to a public charging network starting at the end of the year.

BYD Group Vice President and Head of the Asia-Pacific Automotive Division, Liu Xueliang, stated, "BYD's focus on technological innovation has already transcended the simple realm of 'making and selling cars.'"

The newly launched Denza D9 is a premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) featuring a 115 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, capable of traveling up to 730 kilometers on a single charge (according to NEDC standards). The Z9GT, equipped with three electric motors, delivers a maximum output of 1,156 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds.

Through the introduction of these new vehicles and the expansion of charging infrastructure, BYD aims to strengthen its position in Indonesia's premium eco-friendly vehicle market.

Liu added, "We believe that through technological innovation, we can create greater value for society and deliver the benefits of advanced technology to more people. This belief has driven BYD to continually push the boundaries of technology, turning once-distant technological visions into reality step by step."

Meanwhile, BYD aims to soar once again with the second-generation Blade Battery. After surpassing 1 million units of the first-generation model launched in 2021, the company achieved a cumulative production of 15 million units last year, just four years later. It plans to continue this growth trend with the second generation.
