The government is dispatching a cooperation delegation to support domestic water companies in exporting to Kazakhstan. The delegation aims to discuss the feasibility of purchasing and commercializing water treatment equipment and flow meters that have been tested locally, with the goal of translating technical exchanges into export achievements.

The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 19 that the delegation will visit Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, for three days until the 21st. The delegation includes representatives from both ministries, the Korea Water Resources Corporation, the Korea Environment Corporation, and nine domestic water companies.

Through previous exchanges of cooperation delegations, the two countries have promoted local demonstration projects for domestic companies' water treatment equipment and flow meters. They have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for smart water management technology cooperation based on digital twin technology.

This delegation will focus on the commercialization of existing demonstration projects. It plans to discuss the potential for technology adoption and product purchases with local water management agencies, as well as identify new cooperation projects through visits to water supply and sewage facilities and inspections of demonstration projects.

On the first day, October 19, the delegation will hold a roundtable meeting with the Kazakhstan Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the Water Resources Committee, and the Astana water supply and sewage operating agency. They will share local water management policies and technology needs while introducing domestic companies' technologies and discussing ways to expand cooperation.

During the visit, separate meetings will also be held with officials from the Astana water supply and sewage operating agency. At Nazarbayev University, they will explore possibilities for joint research and technology demonstration cooperation in the fields of water environment and sewage treatment.

A government official stated, "Through this delegation, we plan to support follow-up discussions that lead to product purchases and exports from existing technical exchanges and demonstration achievements, while backing domestic companies' entry into the local market in line with Kazakhstan's water management needs."
