Incheon International Airport Corporation conducted a joint fire response training exercise at the construction site of a logistics center dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises. More than 70 participants, including officials from the Yeongjong Fire Station, the airport fire brigade, and the construction company, assessed the initial response system from reporting to evacuation, firefighting, and rescue.

According to Incheon Airport Corporation, the training took place on October 16 at the construction site of the logistics center. Participants included representatives from the construction project, Yeongjong Fire Station, the airport fire brigade, and the construction management team.

The exercise simulated a scenario where a fire broke out during welding operations, leading to a worker inhaling smoke and suffocating. Participants followed the crisis response manual, which included reporting the incident, controlling access to the site, guiding worker evacuations, and executing firefighting and rescue procedures.

The logistics center, currently under construction at Incheon Airport's second logistics complex, will be four stories tall with a total floor area of approximately 26,000 square meters. Construction began in May 2022, with a completion target set for December 2026.

Kim Beom-ho, acting president of Incheon Airport Corporation, stated, “We will regularly conduct joint crisis response training with relevant agencies to enhance our initial response capabilities in emergencies and continuously strengthen safety management at construction sites.”
