Revenue rose 53.1 percent to 1.58 trillion won, and the operating margin widened 4.0 percentage points to 33.3 percent.
The confirmed results beat the preliminary figures Celltrion released on Oct. 12 by 75.5 billion won in revenue and 15.3 billion won in operating profit.
The company said sales of its newer products and a richer product mix contributed more than expected.
Sales of Celltrion’s newer, high-margin products swelled about 74 percent to 905.8 billion won, or 67 percent of its biopharmaceutical sales.
Omlyclo, a biosimilar of the allergy drug Xolair, posted 320.5 billion won in cumulative sales through September, up 542.3 percent, and launched in the U.S. this month.
“It is significant that we achieved record revenue and operating profit while continuing to invest in future growth engines,” a Celltrion official said, adding that the company expects its growth to continue into the fourth quarter.
The company pledged in August to return one-third of its annual consolidated net profit to shareholders starting this year.
Shares of Celltrion traded for 191,900 won per stock at 10:15 a.m., 1.05 percent higher than the day before.
