LG Energy Solution has partnered with global renewable energy company Enerjix to expand its global energy storage system (ESS) business.
On October 27, LG Energy Solution announced that it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Enerjix at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to collaborate on ESS projects in Europe and North America.
Under this agreement, LG Energy Solution aims to supply a total of 2GWh, including approximately 1.5GWh in Europe and 0.5GWh in North America, over the next 24 months. The company is also considering expanding the total supply capacity to 4.5GWh through its subsidiaries in Europe and the United States.
Enerjix is an independent power producer (IPP) based in Israel, specializing in renewable energy. The company has integrated capabilities to develop and operate renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems, primarily in Europe, North America, and Israel, and aims to build a global portfolio of over 8GW.
The two companies are expected to kick off their collaboration with the Jonava project in Lithuania, which involves establishing an ESS with a capacity of approximately 320MWh. This hybrid renewable energy project is currently under development, with commercial operations targeted for 2027.
Previously, the two companies established a partnership by supplying products for Enerjix's ESS project in Nowe Czarnowo, Poland, in 2024.
This collaboration is significant for LG Energy Solution as it secures opportunities for large-scale ESS projects in Europe. Following recent successes in North America, particularly in AI data centers and ESS projects linked to power grids and renewable energy, LG Energy Solution plans to further expand its business into Europe and strengthen its global ESS foundation.
Changbeom Kang, Executive Vice President of LG Energy Solution's ESS Battery Division, stated, "Through our collaboration with Enerjix, we will be able to expand ESS business opportunities in Europe and North America and further strengthen our global customer base. We will accelerate the growth of our global ESS business based on our differentiated technology and local production capabilities."
