LG CNS has established the first overseas artificial intelligence (AI) data center for a domestic client, securing a demand of 30MW even before its completion, demonstrating its design, build, and operate (DBO) capabilities in the international market.

On November 2, LG CNS announced the completion of a 30MW hyperscale AI data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. This marks the first instance of a domestic company directly constructing an AI data center for an overseas client.

The project was commissioned by KMG, a joint venture between Indonesia's Sinarmas Group and Korea Investment Management.

LG CNS designed and built the data center to reliably support high-performance computing based on next-generation graphics processing units (GPUs). Considering the high heat output of AI servers, a hybrid cooling structure utilizing both air and liquid cooling methods was implemented.

A power system capable of handling over 300kW per rack was also established, which is approximately 60 times the power consumption of typical data center racks. This design ensures stable power supply for high-performance AI infrastructure that accommodates multiple GPUs in a single rack.

The data center employs the 'One LG' integrated solution, which combines key technologies from LG Group affiliates, including LG Electronics' air conditioning systems and LG Energy Solution's batteries, to provide integrated power, cooling, and energy infrastructure.

LG CNS is currently designing the next phase of construction. Once completed, the total power capacity will expand to 400MW, aiming to establish the facility as a leading large-scale AI data center in Indonesia.

Leveraging its operations in Indonesia, LG CNS plans to expand its AI data center business across the Asia-Pacific region, targeting Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Japan. The strategy focuses on enhancing competitiveness in the entire process from design to construction and operation of data centers in response to the growing global demand for AI infrastructure.

Hyun Shin-kyun, CEO of LG CNS, stated, "The completion of the AI data center in Indonesia is a significant achievement that demonstrates LG CNS's ability to provide its accumulated data center expertise to overseas clients and validate its business competitiveness in the global market. We will use this as a stepping stone to expand our AI data center and AI factory business in the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific region and beyond."
