South Korea's core inflation excluding food and energy held at 2.8 percent in October, unchanged from September, even as headline inflation edged down by 0.1 percentage point to 2.8 percent. The figures suggest underlying price pressures have yet to ease broadly despite lower agricultural prices.

Personal service prices rose 3.3 percent and durable goods gained 4.8 percent, while processed food inflation accelerated to 2.9 percent from 2.1 percent in September. Price increases were particularly sharp for computers and mobile phones, and the Bank of Korea expects inflation to remain in the high-2 percent range in November.
