Seongnam Cultural Foundation is organizing an exhibition to showcase new creative possibilities that combine art and technology.
According to the foundation on November 5, the 'Contact Surface' showcase will take place from November 16 to 30 at the Cube Plaza Art & Tech Creation Lab and the Wan-Dal Gallery at the Seongnam Arts Center.
The exhibition will feature seven teams participating in the art and technology fusion creation support project.
Under the theme 'Connection & Entanglement,' the showcase will express the relationships between urban and technological elements, nature and objects, and humans and non-humans through various artistic methods.
In addition to completed works, prototypes, research materials, and experimental records created during the development of artistic ideas will also be displayed.
By sharing the creative process, the exhibition will explore how technology expands the modes of artistic expression and creation.
The showcased works range from those reflecting the local characteristics of Seongnam to cutting-edge fusion art utilizing advanced technology.
These include reinterpretations of Seongnam's sloped terrain, the sounds of the Tancheon River, and the landscapes of Moran Market through video, sculpture, sound, and light, as well as kinetic installations, extended reality (XR), and AI-based archives.
The work 'Murmuration' by the participating team Folding Birding has been selected for the XR category at SIGGRAPH Asia 2026, an international conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques. This piece will also be exhibited in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The significance lies in the experiment that began as a local creation support project now reaching an international stage.
During the exhibition, 'Artist Talks' will be held, allowing creators and audiences to meet directly.
These talks will take place on November 22 at 2 PM and November 28 at 3 PM, where participating artists will discuss their creative intentions, production processes, and experiences using technology.
The exhibition and artist talks are open to the public free of charge for anyone interested in the fusion of art and technology.
Yoon Jeong-guk, the CEO, stated, "This is an opportunity for artists to experiment with new creative methods through technology and share the possibilities discovered in the process with the public."
He added, "We will continue to support creative artistic experiments and technology fusion creations to cultivate a unique art and technology fusion ecosystem in Seongnam."
