SEOUL -- South Korea's state-operated startup support agency will build a logistics center at Incheon International Airport, the country's main gateway, to help small and medium-sized enterprises and online market operators easily store cargo and export products. The center will offer an efficient one-stop service including cargo storage, transport, and customs.

While large conglomerates have their own teams dedicated to the export of their products, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have to manage the logistics and customs process with their limited manpower. There are private agencies that help SMEs export their products, but the outsourcing fee is burdensome for many companies.

The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) said that the agency and Incheon International Airport signed an agreement on November 23 to jointly establish a logistics center size of about three football fields and provide support for SMEs, startups, and online shopping mall operators. The logistics center will be fully operational by the end of 2024.

A one-stop platform will be set up to help business operators easily export their products. KOSME said that a discounted flat fee rate will be applied to every company regardless of their export volume. Specialists will be deployed to companies experiencing problems.
