[영문] IFEZ Creates New Growth Power Based on Distribution



Incheon Tower, which is the second highest building, is under construction in Songdo new city within IFEZ.

Incheon City, which has played a role as an advance base of modern industry, recently focused on Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) and is putting spurs to create a new growth power in Korea based on distribution.

Especially, IFEZ is appearing as the only representative free economic zone in 5 years since its inauguration, and dreaming to take a leap toward the representative free economic zone in Asia beyond Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, and Dubai until 2020.

IFEZ aims to be the best business city in Northeast Asia. The economy of Incheon based on manufacturing industry will transform to a higher value-added high-tech industry including IT, BT, distribution, tourism, and knowledge industry.

IFEZ consists of three large parts with Songdo centered on international business, Yongjong as an air distribution city, and Choengna for a financial hub.

The biggest Songdo International City, which was created by reclaiming the sea, is building skyscrapers day by day.

Incheon Tower with 151 stories high, which is the second highest building, is under construction in Songdo new city.

The city will be created as tentatively named ‘Songdo Landmark International City’ together with Incheon Tower, artificial pond, golf course and resident facilities, which binds up working, living, and playing.

Cheongna district, which its reclaiming work was first completed, will constitute an international financial hub.

Twin buildings of World Trade Center (WTC) with 77 stories high and a business complex will be constructed at its center, making the district a financial & business base with investments of 6.3 trillion won per 1,273,735㎡ until 2017.

Yongjong district is the largest out of IFEZ’s triangular belts. Incheon International Airport, which celebrates 7th anniversary this year, is playing a role as the heart.

As the Airport is already positioning itself as the biggest hub airport in Northeast Asia, it will be the best in the world in 5 years.

The Airport has already called as the center of distribution in the world with linking 61 airlines and 140 cities.
