About 93.5 percent of people in their 20s own smartphones, much higher than other age groups, a report said.

They consider smartphone as a substitute to television, the state-run Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) reported.

About a half of those in their 20s pick smartphone as the most important tool in their daily lives, while 31.2 percent choose PC/notebook computer as a "must," the report said.

Only 15.9 percent of people in their 20s choose TV as the most important tool, compared with 20.6 percent for teens, 58.7 percent for those in their 40s, 81 percent for 50s and 92.8 percent for 60s or older.
