'The Throne' wins best picture award of 35th Korean Film Critics Association Awards

Historical film "The Throne" has been named the winner of the Best Picture Award of the 35th Korean Film Critics Association Awards.

The film, a box-office hit directed by Lee Joon-ik, also won the awards for best screenplay and best music. In the movie, actor Song Kang-ho plays King Yeongjo (1694-1776) of Korea's Joseon Kingdom, while Yoo Ah-in plays his own son, Crown Prince Sado, who, according to historical records, was locked in a rice chest by the order of his father and starved to death.

The Best Director Award went to Ryoo Seung-wan for crime-action film "Veteran," also a box-office hit.  

Jung Jae-young grabbed the Best Actor Award for his role in "Right Now, Wrong Then," whereas actress Kim Hye-soo won the Best Actress Award for her role in "China town." 

Jung and actress Jo Yeo-jeong will emcee the awards ceremony which will be held at the Korea Press Center in downtown Seoul on Nov. 16, the organizer said.
