SEOUL -- The music video for BLACKPINK's dance song Lovesick Girls has garnered more than 700 million views on YouTube, about two years and 10 months after its release in October 2020. The title track of the group's first studio album incorporated electronic dance music and country-style guitar sound. It debuted at No. 59 on Billboard's weekly song chart which ranks top 100 popular songs.

The music video exceeded 700 million views at 4:06 p.m. (GMT) on August 16, the band's agency said. The four-member band now has a total of 13 music videos with more than 700 million views on YouTube. The group currently has more than 90.7 million YouTube subscribers.

Lovesick Girls' music video was publicly criticized right after its release due to Jennie's controversial scene. In the music video, she played a nurse, wearing a hair cap, a white skirt, and red high heels to express the title track's lyrics "No Doctor could help when I'm lovesick." The Korean Nurses Association claimed that the scene "expressed the prevalent trend of sexually targeting nurses in our society."

YG Entertainment initially dragged its feet saying the music video should be treated as an independent art genre, but the agency later apologized for distorting the image of nurses and deleted the scene. Along with Jennie, BLACKPINK's Jisoo participated in composing and writing the song.
